Dianne (Nichols) McRorie

The family of Dianne Nichols McRorie mourns the loss of a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Born Martha Dianne Nichols on November 6, 1953 to the late Herbert Ausburn “Pete” Nichols and Martha Pearl Vance Nichols, Dianne spent her early years in Mississippi, living in Houston and Jackson.  Dianne moved to Tennessee to attend the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she met her husband, Charlie McRorie.  Dianne and Charlie were wed on August 11, 1973, spending fifty-two years together.

Dianne was a beloved babysitter for many in Rhea County, serving up her famous “brown apple sauce.”  She later graduated from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga with a Bachelor’s of Accounting degree.  As a Certified Public Accountant, Dianne worked for American National and SunTrust Banks in Chattanooga.  She retired in 2007 as a Senior Vice President for SunTrust.

Dianne loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, cats, and traveling with Charlie.  She enjoyed compiling family tree history with Charlie and reading.

Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Ausburn “Pete” Nichols and Martha Pearl Vance Nichols.

Dianne is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Charles Franklin McRorie, children Adam (Amy Earles) McRorie and Amy (Todd) Blankenship, and five grandchildren, Keegan McRorie, Aidan McRorie, Vance Blankenship, Magnolia Blankenship, and Herbert Blankenship.

Visitation will be held in the be at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 12-3 p.m. with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m.  Burial will be at Burchard Cemetery in Cranmore Cove.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Coulter Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee.  Floral arrangements are being coordinated by Rhea Floral and Gift Shop in Dayton.
